Expression of Interest
Institute of Food Safety, Animal Health and Environment “BIOR” within the framework of the ERDF project No. 126.96.36.199/16/A/258 “Development and the application of innovative instrumental analytical methods for the combined determination of a wide range of chemical and biological contaminants in support of the bio-economy in the priority sectors of economy” have developed two new instrumental analytical methods based on high resolution mass spectrometry (Orbitrap-HRMS and time-of-flight Q-TOF-MS) detection combined with advanced extraction procedures for the analysis of multi-class pharmaceutical residues in food products.
The first developed method intended for the analysis of veterinary substances in meat is based on the Orbitrap high resolution mass spectrometry and allows the simultaneous determination of a list of more than 140 pharmaceutical substances from twenty-two pharmaceutical classes including secondary metabolites in chicken, porcine and bovine meat by a single chromatographic injection. Therefore, this invention is suitable for both routine assessment and monitoring of the quality and safety of meat products for consumers and also for the study within pharmaceutical studies.
The second analytical method is based on Q-TOF-MS detection for the simultaneous quantification of short-chain chlorinated paraffins (SCCPs, C10–13) and an additional characterization of medium-chain chlorinated paraffins (MCCPs, C14–17) in oven-baked pastry products and unprocessed pastry dough material. The developed method may find importance for the management of baking technology of bakeries and the quality and safety assessment of raw materials and final products by food safety institutions and bakery laboratories.
